Sports & Exercise Medicine
The Department of Rehabilitation Medicine is dedicated to advancing knowledge in the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of sports-related injuries and conditions. Through an interdisciplinary approach, we integrate expertise from fields such as orthopaedics, physical therapy, kinesiology, rehabilitation science, and public health to support both elite athletes and the general population in achieving optimal physical performance and well-being.
Research within the program focuses on key areas including musculoskeletal injury prevention and treatment, biomechanics, sports performance enhancement, return-to-play protocols, concussion management, and the role of physical activity in chronic disease prevention. State-of-the-art laboratories and clinical facilities support investigations that combine motion analysis, wearable technologies, imaging, and clinical trials to translate scientific findings into practical applications.
Collaborations with athletic departments, healthcare providers, and community organizations ensure that research outcomes directly inform best practices in sports medicine and exercise science. We also provide training opportunities for undergraduate, graduate, and professional students, fostering the next generation of clinicians and researchers in the field.
