Mika Toor

Mika Toor, a first-year Doctor of Physical Therapy student, has received $1,000 from the Lisa Wong Legacy Endowed Fund for Stroke Rehabilitation Research.

The Lisa Wong Endowed Fund for Stroke Rehabilitation was named in honor of his mother by Michael L. Wong, PsyD, a UW graduate.

Dr. Wong says, “My mother, Lisa Wong, was small in physical stature but formidable in perseverance and grit. Through various hardships and challenges experienced in her homeland and here in Seattle, she overcame them with a quiet faith and a rooted will to persist through these adversities.”

In her final illness, Lisa Wong was attended by many caring professionals who graduated from UW. This endowed scholarship honors the values of education, compassionate service, and personal empowerment that were manifest in Lisa Wong’s life.

Toor will begin her stroke research with Research Assistant Professor Fatma Inanici, PhD, over summer 2026 and continue till 2027.
