Smith named Clinical Competency Coach, Marcotte joins as Rehabilitation Medicine clerkship co-director

Assistant Professor Lindsay Smith, MD, will join the University of Washington School of Medicine  (UW SOM) as a Clinical Competency Coach starting July 1, 2026. She was one of 19 faculty selected for the 0.1 FTE virtual coaching role. 

In this role, Dr. Smith will provide coaching to UW medical students in the clinical phases of their education to interpret assessment data, set goals, and track progress, while also contributing to clinical competency committee milestone mapping and progression recommendations. The position includes faculty development and membership in a UW medical student program learning community around coaching for clinical competency.

Smith will step down as Rehabilitation Medicine medical student clerkship co-director. Assistant Professor Marissa Marcotte, MD, will join Assistant Professor Jamie Ott, MD, as the new clerkship co-director.
