More than 115 people attended the second annual SMA Community Day on July 11 at Edmonds Civic Park. The event was organized through a collaboration between the University of Washington and Seattle Children's neuromuscular teams, with contributions from Assistant Professor Jaclyn Omura, MD, and Associate Professor Nassim Rad, MD.
The gathering welcomed people living with spinal muscular atrophy (SMA), family members, caregivers, healthcare professionals, therapists, and industry partners for a day of connection, recreation, and community building. Participants enjoyed games, activities, music, food, and opportunities to connect with others affected by SMA.
The event also included participation from Seattle Adaptive Sports, represented by Professor Jelena Svircev, MD.
