Shunt surgery study named a top neuroscience finding by NINDS

The National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke at the National Institutes of Health recently named a clinical trial co-led by Nick Dasher, PhD, ABPP, associate professor of rehabilitation medicine, as one of the top 10 advances in the neurosciences in 2025.
Dr. Dasher collaborated with Dr. Michael A. Williams, professor of neurology and neurological surgery at the University of Washington School of Medicine, and Dr. Rob Bonow, associate professor of neurological surgery, on the multi‑center randomized study. The research, published in the New England Journal of Medicine, provides clear evidence that adjustable shunt surgery can improve symptoms for older adults with idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus.
