ExerciseRx is an app that personalizes digital health platform that deliver and monitors exercises. A phase 1 exploratory study examined how women with axial spondyloarthritis could increase exercise participation using the ExerciseRx app. The study showed that the app could be combined with home-based exercise interventions for female patients who report lower exercise participation and greater functional limitations.

The study was conducted by first authors Rachael Stovall, MD, MAS, acting assistant professor in the Division of Rheumatology, and Postdoctoral Fellow Richard Li in the Department of Computer Science & Engineering. Clinical Professor Cindy Lin, MD, FACSM, FAAPMR, and Professor Janna L. Friedly, MD, MPH, from the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, were also authors on study. The study is now online at Advances in Rheumatology.
