
Barizo appointed teaching associate in Prosthetics & Orthotics

Amanda S. Barizo, CTPO, who has served in the Prosthetics & Orthotics Division since 2023, will begin a new appointment as teaching associate on June 16, 2026.
Barizo currently works as a certified orthotist-prosthetist technician at Harborview Medical Center and as continuing education coordinator in Prosthetics & Orthotics. In these roles, she manages lab and workshop operations, supports student learning, and helps maintain environmental health and safety standards. Many Master of Prosthetics & Orthotics students know her through this work.
Barizo brings experience in both clinical practice and education. She earned a Bachelor of Science in mathematics from Washington Adventist University and a technical diploma in prosthetics and orthotics from George Brown Polytechnic. She is pursuing a Master of Materials Science & Engineering at the University of Washington.
Before joining UW Medicine, Barizo held academic roles at the Philippine School of Prosthetics & Orthotics at the University of the East Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center in Manila, Philippines, including technical lecturer, senior lecturer, and director of academics.
In her new role, Barizo will teach across multiple courses and continue to support lab operations.
