Joseph Ihm, MD, FACSM, is board certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation with a subspecialty board certification in sports medicine. He has a bachelor of science in exercise physiology and is a fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM).
He completed medical school at Rush University, residency at the University of Washington and a sports fellowship at Mayo Clinic. He was the program director of the sports fellowship at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and Shirley Ryan AbilityLab for 10 years. He is on ACSM's Exercise is Medicine Clinical Practice Committee.

Clinical Interests
Dr. Ihm works with patients' goals for treatment and uses therapeutic exercise, fitness exercise, and general activity to minimize their pain and maximize their function and activity level. When appropriate, medications and injections are used to manage pain. He strives to assist patients in achieving their goals and remaining as active and mobile as possible. His interests include sports and fitness related injuries, osteoarthritis, spine disorders, and tendinopathy.
Teaching Interests
Dr. Ihm has been involved in clinical education since he started practicing in 2005. Prior to coming to the University of Washington he coordinated and was involved in teaching the curriculum for medical students, residents and fellows at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine.
