Overview

Our health services and policy research aims to improve how rehabilitation care is delivered, accessed, and financed. By studying healthcare systems, service models, and policy impacts, we seek to enhance outcomes for populations who benefit from rehabilitation care.

What We Study

We analyze the organization, quality, and cost of rehabilitation services across settings—from inpatient care to community-based programs. Our work identifies gaps in access, evaluates models of care, and informs policies that promote equitable, high-value rehabilitation care.

Key Focus Areas

  • Access and Equity – Investigating disparities in rehabilitation care and outcomes across populations.
  • Models of Care – Evaluating the effectiveness of delivery models, including interdisciplinary teams, telehealth, and transitional care.
  • Utilization and Outcomes – Studying patterns of service use and impacts on function, quality of life, and long-term recovery.
  • Policy Impact – Assessing how federal, state, and institutional policies shape rehabilitation access, quality, and workforce.
  • Quality, Cost, and Value – Analyzing the economic impact of rehabilitation services and strategies for improving efficiency while maximizing outcomes.

Our Approach

We use data-driven methods—including large-scale health data analysis, implementation science, and stakeholder engagement—to produce actionable insights for clinicians, health systems, and policymakers.

Goal

To strengthen rehabilitation care systems and inform health policies so that all individuals have access to effective, equitable, and person-centered rehabilitation services.
