Overview

Our research in disability and community participation focuses on understanding and addressing the real-world challenges faced by individuals living with disabilities. We aim to advance inclusive, evidence-based approaches that promote independence, social participation, and quality of life.

What We Study

We examine how physical, social, and environmental factors influence the daily lives of people with disabilities. Our research explores barriers to access, disparities in care, and the effectiveness of interventions that support community living, employment, mobility, and social engagement.

Key Focus Areas

  • Community Integration – Identifying strategies to support participation in home, work, school, and community settings.
  • Health Equity and Access – Addressing disparities in healthcare, rehabilitation services, and social supports.
  • Assistive Technology and Accessibility – Evaluating tools and innovations that enhance independence and inclusion.
  • Policy and Systems Research – Studying the impact of health and disability policies on individuals and communities.
  • Lived Experience and Advocacy – Partnering with people with disabilities to ensure research reflects their priorities and perspectives.

Our Approach

We use community-engaged research, mixed methods, and interdisciplinary collaboration to drive meaningful change. Our work informs clinical care, public policy, and service delivery models that better support individuals with disabilities.

Goal

To create more inclusive, equitable communities where people with disabilities can thrive.
