Williams-York Caps Tenure as PT director with 10-year Program Re-accreditation
After an extensive process, the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program has received a 10-year re-accreditation status from the Commission on Accreditation of Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE), effective April 30, 2024.
This re-accreditation process was overseen by Bernadette Williams-York, PT, DSc, who stepped down as the Director of the Physical Therapy program on June 15 after almost five years in the role. Prior to becoming Director, Dr. Williams-York served one year as the division's Associate Director. The division is happy that she will remain on faculty to continue her research and teaching.
Dr. Williams-York's tenure as director was marked by remarkable achievements and a steadfast commitment to excellence. Under her guidance, the division has seen curriculum enhancements, expansion of clinical partnerships, increased supports for students, and the addition of a sports residency program. Her most notable achievement is her lead on the DPT program's successful 10-year re-accreditation, which has reaffirmed the quality and rigor of our educational offerings.
The Division of Physical Therapy extends their gratitude to Dr. Williams-York for her service, leadership, and accomplishments to advance the program’s mission.
