
Three researchers receive 2025 Stolov Awards for innovative rehabilitation medicine projects

The Department of Rehabilitation Medicine is proud to announce the recipients of the 2025 Walter C. and Anita C. Stolov Research Fund awards. This annual award supports research training and development for junior investigators within the department.
Award Recipients and Projects
- Jason S. Silver, MD, PhD (PM&R Resident)
Project: Bioengineered muscle tissues to assess muscle stem cell fate decisions with aging
Mentor: Professor David Mack, PhD - Kristen O’Loughlin, PhD (Rehabilitation Psychology Postdoctoral Fellow)
Project: Pilot trial of an intervention to enhance self-management of cognitive difficulties and related distress in adults with Long COVID
Mentors: Assistant Professors Lindsey Knowles, PhD, and Tracy Herring, PhD - Christine Chilaka, MD (PM&R Resident)
Project: Qigong for chronic pelvic pain management: A randomized controlled trial
Mentor: Assistant Professor Marissa Marcotte, MD
Each awardee will receive $2,000 to support their research. The Stolov Fund supports one-year research projects with the option of a one-year no-cost extension. Awardees are expected to present their findings at a departmental research meeting or Grand Rounds, and to share a poster at the annual Lehmann Day Symposium.
“We are thrilled to support these three projects that break ground in exciting new research directions and support our residents and postdoctoral fellows in the department to expand their research in new areas,” said Dr. Chet Moritz, committee chair.
The Stolov Fund review committee included Professor Mark Jensen, PhD; Professor Stephen Burns, MD; Professor Carolyn Baylor, PhD; Associate Professor Beth Brown, PT, PhD; and Professor Chet Moritz, PhD.
