The Division of Physical Therapy is proud to announce that the University of Washington Sports Physical Therapy Residency Program has officially achieved initial accreditation from the American Board of Physical Therapy Residency and Fellowship Education (ABPTRFE). Following the Commission’s meeting on September 14–15, 2025, the program was granted a five-year accreditation, valid through September 2030.

Accreditation by ABPTRFE is a reliable indicator of the value and quality of the Residency Program. In receiving initial accreditation, the UW Medicine School of Medicine Sports Residency demonstrated its commitment to educational standards and ethical business practices indicative of quality, accountability, and continuous improvement that enhance the physical therapy profession.

In addition to this milestone, the Orthopedic and Pediatric Physical Therapy Residency Programs at UW have both received ten-year reaccreditation, extending through September 2035. These achievements reflect the sustained quality and leadership of our residency programs and the exceptional contributions of our faculty, clinical partners, and residents.

We remain committed to fostering clinical expertise, innovation, and leadership in physical therapy through our accredited residency programs.
