Review discusses role of mobile apps, devices, for prehabilitation for urologic cancer patients
Treatment for urologic cancers often includes major oncologic procedures and surgeries with a risk of complications, especially in older and frail patients. Prehabilitation programs can help patients in preparing for surgery and improve their postoperative recovery. Mobile apps (mHealth) and wearable devices can play a role in home-based programs. Such devices encourage physical activity, and monitor heath data in before, during, and after surgery.
A new review discusses the role of mHealth and wearable devices for prehabilitation for patients with urologic cancers. The paper, online now in European Urology Focus, was written by Hanna Hunter, MD, Assistant Professor; Cindy Lin, MD, Clinical Associate Professor; Jessica Sher, MD, PGY-3; Nicole Bennington-McKay, UW medical student; and Sarah Psutka, MD, Associate Professor, Department of Urology.
