Rehabilitation medicine open house attracts prospective students
The Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at the UW School of Medicine held a rehabilitation medicine open house on April 7. The event drew more than 50 prospective students interested in rehabilitation careers.
Attendees met with current students, toured classrooms and labs in the Health Sciences Building, and learned about training pathways across rehabilitation disciplines. Those who arrived before 5:00 p.m. had a chance to see students using various machines to make prosthetics. Conversations focused on academic preparation, student experiences, and career options.
Participants explored programs in physical therapy, occupational therapy, prosthetics and orthotics, speech-language pathology, and rehabilitation science, gaining a clearer picture of how these fields support patients and communities. Residents from our physical medicine and rehabilitation (PM&R) residency program also attended, offering prospective doctors a chance to learn more about PM&R as a specialty.
