
Rad receives excellence in departmental impact award

Associate Professor Nassim Rad, MD, received this year’s Excellence in Departmental Impact Award. The award recognizes faculty at the associate or professor rank who demonstrate exceptional engagement and contributions that strengthen the department’s shared mission.
Dr. Rad is recognized for leadership in clinical care, education, and mentorship, as well as for her advocacy on behalf of patients and colleagues.
As Electromyography (EMG) director, Dr. Rad has provided essential leadership for the Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) and Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) care programs, helping ensure high-quality specialized care.
As a faculty mentor, Dr. Rad has supported early-career faculty by offering guidance on career development and growth, while also advancing recognition of mentoring across the department.
Dr. Rad has also contributed to the development of treatment pathways for individuals with muscular dystrophies and spinal muscular atrophy (SMA), and has advocated for access to life-extending care at both the local and national levels.
This marks the inaugural presentation of the Excellence in Departmental Impact Award. Dr. Rad received the award at the 2026 Justus F. Lehmann Symposium on May 7, 2026.
