What inspired you to specialize in sports and spine medicine?

I have always had a curiosity about the musculoskeletal and neurologic systems, which sparked my interest in sports medicine. As a former collegiate athlete, I became more fascinated in the intricacies of how these systems contribute to sports performance as well as rehabilitation and injury recovery. Understanding the role that the sports medicine physician played in caring for athletes was inspiring to me, and this influenced my pathway into medicine.

Why did you choose to join UW Medicine?

I decided to return back to UW after my sports medicine fellowship for many reasons, but the one that was most important to me was to be able to work in a supportive, collegial environment. UW fits this description perfectly, as I am truly grateful for the colleagues I have. Additionally, it is a very collaborative workplace across specialties which elevates our ability to care for our patients.

What is your favorite part of working with patients in this field?

I love working with patients of all ages and abilities and being able to provide education to patients about the various musculoskeletal conditions that they have. Being able to spend time providing medical care for sports teams is also a fun aspect of the job!

What's one easy tip for spine/joint health you wish everyone would follow?

Always build in time for recovery in your workout program!

When you are not in the clinic, what do you enjoy doing?

I enjoy spending time with friends and family, traveling, strength training, hiking, biking, reading, and trying out different types of cuisine.
