
Lewis honored as AAPM&R 2025 Innovators & Influencer

Christopher W. Lewis, MD, FAAPMR, a clinical informatics fellow, has been selected as an AAPM&R 2025 Innovators & Influencer Honoree. This honor highlights early- and mid-career AAPM&R members who have accomplished innovative or influential work within the field of physical medicine and rehabilitation (PM&R).
Dr. Lewis is one of the few PM&R physicians to complete a clinical informatics fellowship and will be an assistant professor in the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at UW Medicine starting in the fall of 2025. Dr. Lewis's role as Specialty Chief Clinical Information Officer of Rehabilitation Medicine will focus on leveraging health information technology to develop learning health systems for PM&R and rehabilitation practice.
As a member of the 2023-2024 Physiatrist in Training Council Board, Dr. Lewis was the liaison on AAPM&R’s Quality and Registry committee and spoke at the 2024 Annual Assembly regarding his informatics training.
Dr. Lewis’s current work includes defining the essential features of electronic health records for rehabilitation providers, measuring the factors contributing to the usability and adoption of digital health tools for patients with acute low back pain, and evaluating the impact of ambient scribe technologies on provider efficiency and fulfillment.
