Friedly co-edits book on low back pain

Janna Friedly, MD, MPH, Professor and Chair of the University of Washington Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, is a coeditor of the new book Low Back Pain, part of the “What Do I Do Now?: Pain Medicine” series. The book was coedited with Dr. Christopher J. Standaert from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.

Several faculty members from the UW Department of Rehabilitation Medicine contributed chapters to the book, including Erica Ho, Ph.D.; Rhonda M. Williams, Ph.D.; Aaron P. Turner, Ph.D.; Katie Smolinski, DO; Mark A. Harrast, MD; Deborah Crane, MD; David C. Morgenroth, MD; and Marissa L. Marcotte, MD.

The book addresses the management of low back pain, providing case-based guidance and practical frameworks for evaluating and treating patients. It includes approaches to front-line care, diagnosis, and long-term management strategies, with the understanding that for many patients, low back pain is a chronic, recurrent problem. The cases reflect common clinical presentations and highlight ways to optimize life and function for patients with a variety of low back pain issues.
