Better Together: CCER highlights region X VR partnership
On March 20, Beth Boland, PhD, CRC, and Kelly J. Franklin, MEd, CRC, presented Better Together: An Overview of the Region X VR Director and RC Educator Partnership Project for the Vocational Rehabilitation Technical Assistance Center for Quality Employment. Boland is director of the Center for Continuing Education in Rehabilitation (CCER) at the University of Washington, and Franklin is CCER’s director of vocational rehabilitation (VR) services and projects. Dacia Johnson, MS, CRC, the director of the Oregon Commission for the Blind (OCB), also presented. A recording of the webinar is available with free registration.
The presentation introduced the Region X VR Coalition, a collaborative effort led by CCER since 2014. The coalition brings together VR professionals from across Region X, which includes Alaska, Idaho, Oregon, and Washington, to strengthen services and support for individuals with disabilities.
The coalition includes professionals from public VR programs, blind services, and Tribal VR programs. Through annual regional meetings, communities of practice, and ongoing networking opportunities, members build meaningful relationships and exchange innovative ideas that strengthen the fabric of vocational rehabilitation across the region.
