Nicole Mazwi, MD

Title: Associate Professor, Medical Director, Stroke Rehabilitation

Dr. Mazwi received her medical degree from the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. She completed her internship at the Johns Hopkins Hospital/Sinai Hospital of Baltimore Internal Medicine Residency program and her Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation residency at the Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital/Harvard Medical School program, where she was Chief Resident. Dr. Mazwi completed a fellowship in Neurologic Rehabilitation at SRH and Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) before joining the staff at both hospitals. Dr. Mazwi pioneered the dedicated consult physiatrist role in the MGH Neurologic Critical Care Unit. She served as the Director of the Harvard Medical School Brain Injury Medicine Fellowship Program and the Co-Director of the Harvard Neurorecovery fellowship. She has worked and continues to work with several professional and collegiate sports organizations to address neuroprotection for high-preforming athletes. In October of 2021 she joined the staff at the University of Washington. Her research interests are centered in early rehabilitation intervention for patients with brain injury and stroke in the neurocritical care setting.

Clinical Interests

  • Recovery and rehabilitation of patients who have suffered a stroke or acquired brain injury, especially moderate to severe traumatic brain injury.
