Jason Silver, MD, PhD

Title: PGY-2
Division: General Physiatry

Jason Silver is a resident physician in the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine. He aspires to be a physician scientist by providing medical care for those with functional deficits while enhancing medical therapies through research endeavors. His research focuses on regenerative medicine by manipulating stem cell behavior with engineered cellular environments.

Education and Training

  • University of California Berkeley BS Bioengineering, 2012
  • University of Colorado Boulder PhD Chemical and Biological Engineering, 2021
  • University of Colorado MD, 2023
  • University of Washington, Medicine Internship, 2024
  • University of Washington, Residency PM&R, 2027

Research Interests

Dr. Silver has enhanced stem cell differentiation into cardiac, retinal, and skeletal muscle tissues through engineered external environments. His PhD research elucidated the importance of muscle stiffness and mechanotransduction signaling during skeletal muscle regeneration. He hopes to continue to harness engineering techniques to augment the repair of muscle and tendon injuries.
