Ivan Molton, PhD

Ivan Molton, PhD, is a psychologist at the Rehabilitation Medicine Clinic at UW Medical Center - Montlake and a UW professor of Rehabilitation Medicine. Dr. Molton works primarily with individuals recovering from long-term conditions that cause disability, including amputation, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury and neurological disease. He also works with patients suffering from anxiety about their health condition, and helps patients manage worry associated with uncertain or developing medical diagnoses. Dr. Molton’s treatment philosophy focuses on helping patients to identify personal strengths and areas of resilience, and utilizing those to meet goals. He believes in an open and clear psychotherapy process in which the patient guides treatment. Dr. Molton earned his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at the University of Miami. His research interests include chronic pain, community health interventions, and new psychological approaches to managing health anxiety.
