Danbi Lee is an associate professor in the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine and core faculty in the Disability Studies Program. Her research focuses on supporting community living and participation of people with disabilities through socio-ecological and self-management interventions. Her work in disability studies advocates for greater integration of disability studies perspectives into rehabilitation research and education. She has a bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy from Yonsei University in South Korea and a doctorate in occupational therapy (OTD) and PhD in Disability Studies from University of Illinois at Chicago. She completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Health Services and Outcomes Research at Northwestern University, Chicago, IL.

Teaching Interests
Her teaching responsibilities include foundational courses of the Master of Occupational Therapy program, including Domain and Process I, Introduction to Research in Rehabilitation, and Application of Measurement Systems. In her teaching, she focuses on making course content and activities relevant and applicable with opportunities for critical reflections. She also strives to create an engaging and supportive learning environment for different learning needs.
Research Interests
Her research focuses on supporting self-management skills and behaviors that help enable adults with stroke to manage a healthy and active life in the community. Another line of research includes research addressing disability-related diversity, inclusion, and equity issues within healthcare and health workforce education.
