Cody McDonald is a prosthetist orthotist and assistant professor in the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine. Dr. McDonald’s research interests are grounded in her desire to improve social justice and equity in prosthetic and orthotic clinical access, care, and outcomes. Her research interests include qualitative methodologies to center prosthetic and orthotic user experiences, education research to improve training for the next generation of clinicians, and global prosthetics and orthotics research to measure and improve prosthetic and orthotic care in underserved areas. Dr. McDonald has a Master of Public Health in global health and a doctoral degree in Rehabilitation Science, both from the University of Washington.

Teaching Interests

Dr. McDonald's goal as an educator is to help students develop the skills necessary to be effective lifelong learners who go on to independently gather, evaluate, and incorporate best available evidence into their work.

Research Interests

Dr. McDonald's research interests focus on improving equity for prosthetic and orthotic users. She employs qualitative methods to center the perspectives, experiences, and priorities of prosthetic and orthotic users. Her research interests also include global service provision in prosthetics and orthotics, outcome measure development, and education research.
