Model Systems of CareThe Department of Rehabilitation Medicine has three federally funded Model Systems of Care: specialized programs of care in Spinal Cord Injury (SCI), Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and burn injury. Funded by the National Institute on Disability, Independent Living, and Rehabilitation Research (NIDILRR), these Model Systems pool information and conduct research with the goal of improving long-term patient outcomes. NIDRR grants model system designation to institutions that are national leaders in medical research and patient care, and provide the highest level of comprehensive specialty services. Model System grantees contribute data to national statistical centers that track the long-term consequences of SCI, TBI and burn injuries. They also conduct research studies and disseminate information and research findings. The Department of Rehabilitation's Model Systems of Care include:© Copyright 2000-2023 University of Washington
