Limb absence, difference or dysfunction

As a long-standing leader in limb loss rehabilitation and prosthetics research, our aim is to improve the function and quality of life for people with limb loss. Our multidisciplinary research investigators in this focus area include PM&R physicians, prosthetist-orthotists, physical therapists, rehabilitation psychologists, engineers, and epidemiologists. Our research covers a wide range of clinically important topics including prosthetic socket and foot innovations, amputation-level predictive models and shared decision making, patient centered and personalized prosthetic prescription, mobility outcomes, phantom limb pain, and the prevention and treatment of secondary disabling musculoskeletal conditions such as low back pain and contralateral knee osteoarthritis.
