Johnstone New Associate Director, Physical Therapy

Laura Johnstone, PT, MPT, PhD (Acting Instructor) will begin her new role as Associate Director, Physical Therapy, effective May 1, 2021. Dr. Johnstone has been a faculty member with the department since 2009, first as a Teaching Assistant, then Teaching Associate (2015), and most recently as an Acting Instructor (2021).
As the Associate Director, she will work with the Director to facilitate and support the DPT education program within the Division of Physical Therapy. She will be responsible for managing and coordinating activities of the Division faculty to provide an excellent DPT education program and to promote the visibility of the program within and beyond the University.
Dr. Johnstone has more than a decade of clinical experience, including a focus on acute care physical therapy at the University of Washington Medical Center and outpatient physical therapy at Edmonds Orthopedic Physical Therapy. She received a Bachelor's degree in Psychology/Anthropology from Western Washington University (1998). She earned both a Master's degree in Physical Therapy (2003) and a Doctoral degree in Rehabilitation Science (2021) from the University of Washington. She was also an Interprofessional Teaching fellow (2018-2019) at the University of Washington.
