Lewis receives $20k grant for a study on spine care education program

Chris Lewis, MD

Chris Lewis, MD, Clinical Informatics Fellow, has received a UW CLEAR pilot and feasibility grant for $20,000. His project explores the patient and provider usability of the Non-Surgical Spine Care Companion, a 10-week education program for patients. It is designed to help patients with acute low back pain work through their spine pain care plan. The study will leverage tools intrinsic to Epic including MyChart, Track My Health, and Care Companions to gather information about patient's recovery from acute low back pain. This pilot study will inform modifications to the NSSCC and future studies of how it impacts acute back pain recovery and function.
