Kathleen Burgess is physiatrist at the VA Puget Sound and an associate professor in the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine. At the Seattle VA, she is the director of the Regional Rehab Care Services Multiple Sclerosis Clinic. She also provides rehabilitation care to veterans in stroke, musculoskeletal and EMG clinics. Her medical degree is from the University of Washington. She also has a Master’s Degree in Interdisciplinary Nutrition from the University of Washington.

Clinical Interests

Clinical interests include symptom management in multiple sclerosis such as spasticity, bowel and bladder problems, fatigue, functional decline, memory and mood disorders, stroke disorders and recovery as well as EMGs.

Teaching Interests

Dr. Burgess is involved with teaching medical students, residents, fellows, and other allied health care students. She believes that students should be respected and nurtured as they are making a significant contribution to their communities through their choice of profession.
