Center for Continuing Education in Rehabilitation (CCER) at UW

The Center for Continuing Education in Rehabilitation (CCER) is dedicated to increasing employment opportunities for people with disabilities by providing specialized rehabilitation training and technical assistance in the Pacific North West and beyond.

CCER is part of the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at the University of Washington, and works with state and community-based rehabilitation professionals, organizations and businesses, educators, and schools, as well as people with disabilities and their families.

The Center recently recieved a $3.6 million grant from the Rehabilitation Services Administration (RSA) of the U.S. Department of Education to develop and provide an integrated program of technical assistance, organizational development, and educational activities to vocational rehabilitation agencies and their partners in the North West.

Providing information, training, and guidance on the Americans with Disabilities Act to Alaska, Idaho, Oregon & Washington

Funded by the National Institute on Disability, Independent Living, and Rehabilitation Research (NIDILRR), the Northwest ADA Center belongs to the ADA National Network, a network of 10 regional centers that work with businesses, state and local governments, and people with disabilities to support the ADA's mission to "make it possible for everyone with a disability to live a life of freedom and equality."

As part of the University of Washington's Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, the Northwest ADA Center collaborates with the Center for Technology and Disability Studies, which provides research, education, training, policy analysis, and legal advocacy related to assistive technology and accessible information systems.

The Northwest ADA Center has been aggressively staffed with experts on disability, rehabilitation, rehabilitation engineering, special education, the built environment, accessibility to buildings, electronic accessibility, civil rights law, and business. Our regional advisory committee and our state affiliates are premier leaders in ADA compliance in each of the states served—Alaska, Idaho, Oregon, and Washington.

State Partners

Located in Mountlake Terrace, WA, the Northwest ADA Center staff coordinates activities not only throughout Washington State, but also with our partners in Oregon, Idaho, and Alaska, providing ADA training and technical assistance specific to that state.
