Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R)
Visiting Student Clerkship Opportunities

The Department of Rehabilitation Medicine offers visiting student clerkships to fourth year visiting medical students interested in exploring a career in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Sites include the University of Washington Medical Center-Montlake (UWMC), Harborview Medical Center (HMC) and the VA Puget Sound (Seattle) inpatient (Rehabilitation Care Services, RCS) and Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) programs. The experience is primarily inpatient rehabilitation with additional educational opportunities in outpatient, electrodiagnostic, and consultation settings. Students attend PM&R resident lectures during the clerkship experience.

For more information about the application process for visiting student clerkships, please visit UW School of Medicine Visiting Student Clinical Elective Program page. Information specific to Rehabilitation Medicine can be found under the heading Departamental Course Listings.

Please note that a visiting student rotation is not required to apply to our residency program, and many of our residents did not participate in a visiting student clerkship with us. If you are interested in applying for a resident position with our program, we fully encourage you to do so.

Diversity Sub-Internship

The Diversity Sub-Internship program provides opportunities to experience the exceptional training that the University of Washington has to offer to students from historically underrepresented groups in the health and science professions.
