Multiple Sclerosis Clinical Fellowship
The University of Washington Multiple Sclerosis Center in Seattle, Washington is offering a one-year clinical multiple sclerosis fellowship open to neurologists and physiatrists. in multiple sclerosis (MS) rehabilitation. The UW MS Center is one of the largest and most comprehensive MS centers in the US, and treats over 4,000 patients in the Northwest region. In addition, the UW houses the only MS Rehabilitation Research and Training Center in the country. Fellows participate in outpatient clinics, inpatient consultation, electrodiagnostic medicine, radiology, formal didactics, journal club, and related research. The curriculum emphasizes rehabilitative MS care in a clinical setting. A didactic series and specialized materials address the fellow’s educational needs. In addition, fellows can also avail themselves of the teaching programs for musculoskeletal, electrodiagnostic, and SCI fellows at the UW.
Training sites include the University of Washington Medical Center, Northwest Hospital and Medical Center, and other major MS Centers in Seattle. Mentorship is provided by Gloria Hou, MD, director of the UW MS Center, and other faculty physiatrists and neurologists.
Since its inception in 2001, the MS fellowship program has trained either one or two fellows per year, for a total of 11 fellows. There is a great demand for fellowship-trained MS physicians, and all graduating fellows have received excellent job offers and are currently employed in academic and non-academic MS centers or other group practices.
This is an excellent fellowship opportunity for a graduating resident to obtain further training and skills in the comprehensive neurorehabilitation.care of persons with multiple sclerosis while working within a multidisciplinary team setting.
