Current Research Studies: Musculoskeletal Conditions

The Department of Rehabilitation Medicine is currently conducting the following study on musculoskeletal conditions:

A Study to Understand Biomechanical Mechanisms of a Therapy Used to Treat Musculoskeletal Conditions:

The Department of Rehabilitation Medicine is conducting a study to understand the biomechanical mechanisms of a common form of manual therapy used to treat musculoskeletal conditions. While initial assessment techniques will be developed, tested and applied to the shoulder, the study has a long-term goal of eventually expanding to include additional joints.

The study's main focus is to determine the effectiveness of manual mobilization for restoring mobility in patients with musculoskeletal joint dysfunction. It also seeks to establish biomechanically-bases parameters to distinguish, categorize and diagnose healthy and non-healthy tissue. We expect this study to produce a cost effective tool that clinicians can use to document manual assessment and treatment of joint dysfunction.

For additional information on this study, please contact the Principal Investigator, Dr. Kevin McQuade.
