Rehabilitation Research and Training Center on
Aging With Disabilities

The University of Washington's Rehabilitation and Research Training Center (RRTC) is devoted to addressing the specific challenges that affect people who are aging with physical disabilities. The Center targets persons with spinal cord injury, multiple sclerosis, post-polio syndrome, and muscular dystrophy.

The Center's primary objectives are to:

  1. Enhance our understanding of the natural course of aging with spinal cord injury, multiple sclerosis, post-polio syndrome, and muscular dystrophy.
  2. Test innovative interventions that enhance the health and participation in persons with physical disabilities.
  3. Enhance our understanding of the experience of vocational issues among individuals aging with physical disabilities.
  4. Disseminate findings from the Centers research projects in an effective and efficient manner to individuals with disabilities, their family members, and their health care providers.
