Patient Stories
The University of Washington's Department of Rehabilitation Medicine has developed a patient and family centered care model that integrates our patients fully in their rehabilitation process. Our success has been acknowledged with national recognition, but more importantly, it is acknowledged by the thanks we receive from our patients.
Our patient stories provide a personal glimpse into the improved quality of life that rehabilitation can provide, and demonstrate why our program is so highly respected.
- An auto accident in July of 2001 resulted in a C5/6 spinal cord injury for Jim Schoeld and 10 weeks on the rehab unit. He credits his team with helping him to
understand that he could once again be mobile and independent.

Read more about Greer... - Chris Blanchard was injured on August 14, 1997 while working at Chihuly studios when he fell 20-25 ft. from a scissor lift, landing on his back on the concrete floor. He sustained a C5-6 spinal cord injury.
