Joseph M. Czerniecki, MD, MS

Joseph Czerniecki, MD, is a PM&R physician/researcher with a long track record in research related to amputations. This has included the biomechanics of amputee gait, and pain after amputation. More recently his research has related to the development of prediction models of amputee mobility, mortality, and need for reamputation, that can be applied in the preamputation period. The goal is to better inform patients and providers about their potential outcome prior to amputation and by informing patients encourage their participation in important amputation related physician/patient conversations. The overall goal is to enhance shared decision making through the development and evaluation of shared decision making tools.
