Donald Fogelberg, PhD, OTR/L

Donald Fogelberg’s areas of expertise include mental health, spinal cord injury, sleep research, occupational science, and qualitative research methodologies. He worked for the British National Health Service in various settings, including a psychiatric day hospital, primary care clinics, and community mental health teams, for 10 years before joining the University of London faculty as fieldwork coordinator. While in the UK, he also worked as a registered psychotherapist. He has studied sleep problems in a variety of clinical populations, with a focus on people who have experienced significant central nervous system dysfunction such as spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, multiple sclerosis and Parkinson Disease. In 2014 he received a K01 Mentored Research Scientist Development Award from NCMRR to support his research. Dr. Fogelberg served in various capacities with the Society for the Study of Occupation: USA since 2006 and has reviewed grant applications for the UK Multiple Sclerosis Society, the American Occupational Therapy Foundation, and the Department of Defense. He is currently a member of the American Occupational Therapy Foundation’s Board of Trustees.

Research Interests

Dr. Fogelberg's research interests are focused on the impact of sleep disturbance on rehabilitation outcomes in people with chronic neurological conditions.
