Why did you choose the PhD in Rehabilitation Science program at the UW?

This program offers an individual approach to our own learning. It also offers fantastic opportunities to collaborate with many other professionals from many other disciplines.

Why did you choose interdisciplinary education?

As a pediatric professional, I have learned to working in an interdisciplinary approach during my career. It seemed like a very natural progression for me to choose a program with a focus on interdisciplinary education.

What are your research interests?

My current research interests are in examining the effects of various video game systems used for rehabilitation for children with cerebral palsy. I am also interested in examining the reasons and rationale that some parents choose not to tell their children with cerebral palsy about their diagnosis.

What is your professional background?

I have been a pediatric physical therapists for seven years in Issaquah. I have practiced in a private outpatient cliniic working primarily with children with developmental disabilities and have also been part of contracted service to three school districts in the area.

What are your personal interests and activities outside of school?

I sincerely enjoy working with kids and fill some of my "free" time with work. I also enjoy golfing, softball, and going to football games. Beyond that, I value time at home relaxing with movies.

PhD in Rehab Science Application Deadline

The PhD Program in Rehabiliation Science accepts applications every other year. The next application deadline will be January 15, 2020.
