  • The University of Washington Division of Occupational Therapy invites you to participate in building for our future through your attendance at our workshop, entitled Leading Children’s Social Skills Groups: Foundational Information and Hands-on Strategies For Occupational Therapists. The workshop will be held on October 24, 2009 at Seattle Children's hospital. Please follow the links to view the entire workshop invitation and workshop registration form. • Capital Campaign for Classroom Renovation Project to occur in 2009
Change is in our future as a country, as well as, within the Division of Occupational Therapy. We have a new Department of Rehabilitation Chair, Dr. Peter Esselman who is spearheading a teaching laboratory remodel project for the Divisions of Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Prosthetics & Orthotics. Our Division has never had a teaching laboratory and we are so excited to be planning a space where we can offer students training in activities of daily living with a kitchen, bathroom and bedroom area. Other hands-on OT evaluations and interventions and learning activities will be conducted in the multi-purpose open space. We have embarked on a fundraising campaign to add $1.5 million to the $1 million dollars already earmarked for this project, and are hoping that alumni from the three programs will be generous in supporting this important project for our teaching programs. Information about the lab remodel project and how to donate can be found on the Rehabilitation Medicine website by going to Support Our Capital Campaign. Please give your donations to the Rehab Classroom Renovation Fund this year rather than our other funds. Construction is scheduled to start in summer 2009 and be completed by end of 2009.
