Master of Science Degree (MS)

The University of Washington Department of Rehabilitation Medicine offers a Master of Science (MS) degree with pathways in Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy. The MS degree is a post-professional degree with a research training emphasis.

The MS degree prepares physical and occupational therapists to serve as clinical researchers, educators, and/or administrators. Specific goals of the program are to prepare students to:

  1. Discuss the philosophical base of rehabilitation sciences, and understand and apply theories and frames of reference for practice and research.
  2. Design and conduct research and report the results in written and oral form appropriate for dissemination to other professionals and consumers.
  3. Design, conduct, and evaluate instruction as it pertains to classroom teaching, workshop presentations, and in-service training.
  4. Serve in leadership roles in clinical research, education, and/or administration.
